Narrative
After escaping from an island prison where he spent 14 years for being wrongly accused of treason, Edmond Dantès returns as the Count of Monte Cristo to take revenge on the men who betrayed him. The Count of Monte Cristo is the most expensive French film of 2024.

When Albert watches Hydee sing and play the guitar, it is very obvious that half the time she is not even touching the strings.. I usually don’t like action movies, the amazing cast, as well as the choice of a French literary classic convinced me to go see LE COMTE DE MONTE CRISTO.
And I was not disappointed!
Despite its three-hour runtime, the film never gets boring. When it’s not keeping us on our toes, it’s showing us eye-popping scenes of 19th century France, which makes us wonder how they did it with only 40 million euros!
I sincerely hope that this film will have a career outside of France, because more people deserve to see it
I think beautiful cinematography and clever editing must play a role in making this film stand out from the much more expensive Hollywood productions. Of course, much of the credit also goes to Alexandre Dumas, who came up with such a poignant story, but adapting it to the screen was certainly no easy task either, and here it was done wonderfully.
