Narrative
A suicide therapist begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks
Despite his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives – including his own. "Shrinking" shares the key moments that defined their characters in Season 1 and reveals who did the best Harrison Ford impression. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they managed to get Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and it was done to listen to people like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least take it to Ford first, because they thought he would immediately say no, but at least others would hear that Harrison Ford was involved in a project that attracted interest from other big actors.

Eventually, Goldstein spoke to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he’s cheered up nonetheless. Two episodes in and this show is showing a lot of promise, the chemistry between the characters is infectious and sometimes even weird… heartwarming in a way that most shows aren’t, and it just reminds me of the show’s community in terms of these elements.
Harrison Ford plays Dr
. I’m not sure if this is an accurate depiction of the therapist’s way of dealing with issues, but it certainly gives Jason Segel the space to deal with it himself. Rhodes, Jason’s boss and mentor. I wasn’t sure how his character would work in this show, but Rhodes’ antisocial streak certainly makes Ford the kind of person I’d meet.
, when I see Jimmy navigating these things
Well, when you think about the more troubling elements of Han Solo’s character in Star Wars, it fits this show like a glove. Sean (Luke Tennie) plays the son character to Jimmy (Segel) with his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell)… What I see here looks so vibrant and the possibilities are perhaps (?) endless. Btw, the intro theme of this show is so good that I didn’t miss it even when I watched episode 2…
And the music is really good in this show
Overall, this is an amazing show and I hope it only gets better from here.
