Land grabs threaten to destroy a declining dynasty
Narrative
When the huge Lawson cattle station has no heir, rival factions in Australia see a chance to take control. The series was filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia, remote locations hardly inhabited – let alone on screen. Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage site Kakadu National Park – with special permission from the traditional owners – and Tipperary Station, a real working cattle station so big it has its own airport and school.
Yes, it will be compared to Yellowstone
Yes, it’s the same on top of the plot, conflicts and crazy characters. Yes, it can refer to many similar problems. To me, the two main issues are things that only happen to move the plot forward.
Actions that make no sense
The family patriarch just decides on the succession without weighing the pros and cons of each option. The second is plot holes, which exist for a similar reason to move the plot forward. The station is said to be the size of Belgium, but is run by a family (starting with 4 members and later expanding to more) and what appears to be a basic staff.
Tensions rise, conflicts deepen, passions are awakened
But of course greedy companies try to take it from them. I also didn’t like how everything kept piling up. then things are (fashionably) resolved within half an hour.
Good camera work, beautiful nature
But it’s not a bad show if you look past it.
