Addiction Help for Family Members

The staff of Inwood Community Services offers assistance in both English and Spanish. The Addicts Rehabilitation Center uses a process that has helped them cure clients in the grip of substance abuse for over 50 years. Staff at the facility believe that patients can recover from the disease of addiction and become productive members of society. Each patient has an individual treatment plan that consists of a combination of therapies and medical treatments when required. Services offered at the center include vocational and educational training, housing assistance, family services, group counseling, individual counseling, and legal services. The program generally lasts between six and nine months, depending on the needs of the addict.

Co-dependency and enabling behaviors, wherein family members inadvertently support and enable the addictive behavior, can hinder the recovery process. Codependent relationships, marked by excessive reliance and unhealthy dynamics, can impede the individual’s ability to develop independence and self-sufficiency in recovery. Emotionally and psychologically, addiction can strain family dynamics, leading to feelings of guilt, shame, anger, and mistrust.

What to Consider When Choosing a Rehab Center

Broadly speaking, outreach concludes when a client completes enrollment procedures and attends a first treatment session. From there, engagement interventions are used to encourage attendance and enhance readiness and motivation to participate actively (Becker et al., 2015). These factors appear to be similar in the limited research on transition-age youth (Kim et al., 2012). Step One follows an abstinence model of treatment and provides a three-phase program for men, women, and adolescents who are struggling with substance abuse. Phase one participants attend sessions two to six times per week, concentrating on complete abstinence.
